University Pathways
What is a pathway course?
Besides directly enrolling on a degree course at University, there is another popular way in the Australian international education system which is to study a pathway course before entering your study in university. The pathway course enables you to strengthen the academic competence in the discipline you will study in the university.
Under normal circumstances, you will be guaranteed to study the degree course in the university after completing the pathway course successfully.
There are some types of pathway courses
- English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)
- Pathway to undergraduate courses
- Pathway to postgraduate courses
Who should consider enrolling on a pathway course before studying in university?
To successfully enrol a bachelor or master degree course at university is not always easy as every tertiary education provider has its entry requirement such as qualification, academic performance, English proficiency, etc. Furthermore, the academic burden in many disciplines are intensive; as a result, sometimes the students might, unfortunately, fail the examination in the university.
Therefore, the pathway course is an alternative option for international students who have concerns. Most of the pathway courses have a more accessible entry requirement and the pace of study is not as intensive as in university. Moreover, the credits you earn in the pathway course can be recognised by the university credits system, which means you can save time and budget to achieve the degree. Some pathway courses such as in the healthcare industry would allow you to start your career before entering the university.
MWT Global is an official representative for many pathway courses. Some of the courses are listed as following. Please consult with our education counsellor for more pathway course options.
